Skunk Control in Los Angeles

Published by animalproblemsolved

Anytime Animal Control has more to offer than trapping skunks! We are a full service animal damage control company. Todays topic is controling skunks. First lets look at mister skunk to help you understand why he acts the way he does, then all the good people of Los Angeles can be a little less fearful and a little more “in the know” when confronted with a skunk problem.
Skunks eat almost anytthing that wont eat them first. This includes road kill, small birds, and rats and mice. The front paws are made to dig, so they may go in a tunnel after the smaller animals. They eat fruit and vegetables when ripe, and are especially fond of ripe tomatoes. Skunks can not realy climb, so a short fence will keep garden raiding skunks under control as long as the fence doesn’t have a gap at all on the bottom. They are a member of the weasle family so its in the blood to slide through a small small space.
Skunks are near sighted, but mother nature has given them a nose that can detect the exact spot where a grubb is under the lawn. So if its small shallow holes in your beautiful Los Angeles land scape, it may be skunk control that you need. A field operator can usually get them all in a few days.
Being near sighted, in an urban area like los angeles can be a scary place for a skunk. Which is why people get sprayed by them. A skunk will almost never attack. They will defend themselves if need be, and thats with a yellowish greasy substance emited from 2 ports in the rear of the animal. It is a steady stream which can score a direct hit 15 feet away! If this happens to you, it isnt the end of the world, it washes right off the skin with peroxide and a little dawn dish washing soap. 2 applications will usually take care of it. This solution works on dogs as well. Nobody in Los Angeles wants to go arround smelling like a skunk. Young skunks have little control of the spray gland, and this makes them a little harder to work with, but our guys and gals at Anytime Animal Control are patient and will take the time to make the removal odor free if at all possible!
